DB Vehicle Maintenance
New strategy for maintenance facilities that are fit for the future
The increase in the number of regional transport contracts awarded to competitors, and the developments in rail freight transport, have led to a significant fall in demand for maintenance services in recent years. This is further driven by the increasing trend for vehicle manufacturers to offer their own maintenance services. All this has resulted in a steady decline in utilization of the DB maintenance facilities. We have developed the new 2030 facilities strategy to make this division fit for the future. As part of Railway of the Future we conducted an analysis of how to secure jobs by increasing productivity and expanding mobile maintenance. This also focused on compensating for contracts lost by gaining business for non-Group railways. A concept for the future was developed to increase profitability and competitiveness.
