Overall, we expect train-path demand to improve slightly in 2018. Continued positive demand development is predicted for regional rail passenger transport thanks to increased regionalization funds. In addition, long-distance rail passenger transport is expected to realize additional volume following the commissioning of the Munich – Berlin line in December 2017. In rail freight transport, we also expect significant volume growth as a result of the master plan for rail freight transport.
Due to continued extensive construction activities, we expect constant development of station stops. The share of station stops by non-Group TOCs will continue to increase in future. Across Germany, the development of real retail sales (excluding vehicles and gas stations) has been assessed to be slightly positive for 2018. As a result, we expect that leasing income in stations will increase slightly.
