2017 Integrated Report – Departure into a new era

Main activities in 2017

Hosting of the 21st Environmental Forum

Dialog with environmental and passenger associations is very important to us, which is why DB Environment invites representatives of these associations to our annual “Environmental Forum” to exchange ideas about the challenges we are currently facing. The 21st event was hosted in Berlin and featured workshops and panel discussions at which Management Board members Ronald Pofalla (Infrastructure) and Berthold Huber (Passenger Transport) and others answered participants’ questions. The CEO of DB Cargo and representatives from the logistics industry discussed challenges and innovations in green logistics with association delegates.

Summit meeting with environmental associations

Since 2000, DB Group management has been meeting with environmental associations to examine current environmental topics. In the year under review the representatives met up in Berlin in October. Topics addressed between the managers of the associations and DB CEO Dr. Richard Lutz and DB Management Board member in charge of Infrastructure Ronald Pofalla included the new DB climate target and the use of herbicides. We also presented our new environmental communication concept This is green..

Compliance conference

DB Group places great importance on only doing business with companies that demand ethical and legal conduct, and on encouraging its suppliers to adopt an appropriate attitude. At the Compliance conference in March 2017, suppliers and representatives from associations met with top-level DB Group managers to set the course for future cooperation. In various workshops around 100 participants discussed topics such as DB Group’s new supplier management system, current compliance issues affecting the associations and their work, business partner compliance, and DB Group’s antitrust damage prevention system.
